The Hierarchy panel shows a textual breakdown of all the body parts of your organism in a tree like structure. The base of the
hierarchy is the first body part that you add to your
organism (usually the torso). From the base (or root) different branches of your organism are shown, such as different legs, the head, the tail, etc...
The Hierarchy also allows for another form of selection. By clicking on the various body parts in the Hierarchy
Panel the corresponding part will be highlighted in the
3D Display and the properties of the selected body part will be shown in the Properties Panel. You can also use the
Hierarchy Panel to delete body parts from your organism. For example, if you need to delete a leg of your organism you
can select the beginning body part of the leg and press the delete key. A dialog box will pop up asking you if you really
want to delete the selected body part and all of it's children (in this case the rest of the leg). Once you select okay
the body parts will be deleted from the organism.
If you select a body part using the 3D Display the corresponding body part will be highlighted in the
Hierarchy Panel.
